OCFC Education Discounts

Active School & College Students

If you are an active student at any accredited High School or college, you are eligible to participate in any and all flight training program/s offered by Orange County Flight Center, (OCFC) at a discounted rate on ALL aircraft rental and instruction rates. A valid Student Identification Card issued by the school/college is required. There is no minimum age to commence flight training. You must be 16 years old to solo and 17 years old to obtain your private pilot’s license. You must be a US citizen or be TSA approved. A 15% discount will be offered to all eligible school/college student intending to complete their training program on all aircraft and instruction as descrtibed in the rates described in the Rate Sheets provided.

Women in Aviation

If you are an active member in any of the following organizations you are eligible to participate in any and all flight training program/s offered by Orange County Flight Center, (OCFC) at a discounted rate on ALL aircraft rental and instruction rates.

U.S. Military / Law Enforcement / Fire Department & US Veterans

If you are an active/current employee of any state, federal, county or city law enforcement including but not limited to Active duty members of the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard; Members of the Reserve component when serving on active duty; Members of the National Guard; Active duty commissioned officers of the Public Health Service or the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Police or Sheriff’s department, Fire Department, U.S. military, U.S. Marshall, U.S. Veteran you are eligible to participate in any and all flight training program/s offered by Orange County Flight Center, (OCFC) at a discounted rate on ALL aircraft rental and instruction rates.

Tuition And Fees

Qualified students may use their benefits towards the tuition and fees of their academic program. The Post-9/11 GI Bill can cover up to See https://www.va.gov/education/about-gi-bill-benefits/how-to-use-benefits/flight-training/. in tuition and fees per flight program or academic year (whichever ends first) to cover eligible tuition and fee charges for completed training. Under the MGIB-SR and MGIB-AD, an individual may receive up to 60% of the actual and eligible charges for completed training. Individual years may feature different rates; This entitlement may be transferrable to military spouses or dependents.

 

Monthly Housing Allowance

Post-9/11 GI Bill benefits include a Monthly Housing Allowance (MHA) for eligible veterans and service members. The MHA is based on the location of the campus where the majority of your classes are being taken and is prorated based upon the number of days you are enrolled in school each month.

The housing allowance rate varies depending on where you are taking the majority of classes with the University. Students taking at least one residential class at one of the Flight Training Centers may receive their MHA based on the zip code of that location. VA Education Benefits

A Synopsis

At Orange County Flight Center, we are thankful for your service to our country. OCFC is approved by the United States Veterans Administration to accept VA benefits. We are extremely proud to accept military and veteran benefits to use towards your education, including the Post-9/11 GI Bill®. GI Bill® is a registered trademark of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). More information about education benefits offered by VA is available at the official U.S. government Web site at www.benefits.va.gov/gibill The United States Veterans Administration will pay flight training costs for Instrument Course, Commercial Pilot Course and Flight Instructor Course. The VA does limit the amount that may be paid annually and will pay up to the minimum cost of the flight program based upon FAA Part 141 stated minimum hours to complete the course. The Veterans Administration will not fund the initial Private Pilot course.

The Post-9/11 GI Bill

As a veteran or active service member, you and/or your family may be eligible to use educational benefits provided by the Post-9/11 GI Bill for tuition and expenses at Orange County Flight Center, located at John Wane Airport, Santa Ana, California. The Post-9/11 GI Bill benefits are disbursed in multiple payments, including tuition and fee payments, housing allowance and a books/supplies stipend.

Ineligible Courses

The following cannot be certified for VA benefits:

  • Courses not leading to an educational, professional, or vocational objective (i.e. continuing education courses).
  • Courses previously completed successfully.
  • Courses taken while not admitted to a diploma, certificate or degree program.
  • Self-improvement courses.
  • Recreational programs.
  • Auditing courses.
  • Any course not approved by the State Approving Agency.

Please Note:

In order for any student to avail of any discounts and discount credit offered, their account should be in good standing at all times, which means that the student account cannot have a negative balance at any time during the training period. 

All education discounts are credited to individual accounts based upon fees actually paid and spent at the completion of 40 hours of training only.  Furthermore, any discount offered by OCFC, whether written or verbal, is not an obligation but at the sole discretion of OCFC.
